2) Immigration

If you’re a highly-skilled and experienced professional who wants to immigrate to Canada but can’t find a suitable job offer from a Canadian company, you may be able to immigrate through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The PNP allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals for permanent residency based on their current or proposed employment in that province. The province must have an employer willing to employ you as well. The process is initiated when an employer applies on your behalf with its provincial/territorial government. If successful, you will then apply for permanent residence with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Of course, every province has different requirements for nomination eligibility; however, there are some commonalities across all provinces and territories.

Environment Canada is hiring for work at their head office in Ottawa as a Meteorologist. There are currently 10 job postings available for full-time positions and part-time positions. Qualifications include An undergraduate degree with a specialization in meteorology, climatology, or atmospheric science from an accredited university program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Experience is also needed; however specific job descriptions do not state exactly what level of experience will be accepted.

4) Security Service

The Canadian government regularly hires security agents to provide services at embassies and border crossings. The hiring process is competitive, but if you pass all of your exams you’ll be qualified for positions that pay upwards of 70K a year. This job does require a background check and fluency in either French or English; because these jobs are at overseas locations, there will also be an additional cost to relocate with your family. 5) Education

To apply for Canada’s Federal Skilled Worker Program, you’ll need at least two years of experience working in one of 55 occupations under National Occupational Classification 0 or A. If you meet those requirements and don’t have a post-secondary degree yet, enrolling in a full-time program that can get you to graduation could qualify you as well. Be warned: It will take time to become a citizen. You must live in Canada for three years before applying and spend at least one year living there as a permanent resident before becoming eligible to apply for citizenship. And if things go wrong, giving up your current citizenship is not an option—there are ways around it but they aren’t easy.

6) Health Services

If you’re interested in applying for a government job in Canada and taking advantage of Canada’s excellent health care system, consider applying for one of these eight government jobs that will give you access to top-notch medical benefits. Nurse Practitioner: The average salary for nurse practitioners is around $95,300. There are two basic categories: Primary Care (family practice) and Acute Care. If you qualify as a primary care practitioner you can work in any setting providing patient care. You may find yourself working directly with patients or supporting other health professionals like physicians and registered nurses within their clinics or hospitals. Acute care nurse practitioners (ACNPs) might find themselves diagnosing illnesses and administering treatment plans at places like dialysis centers and outpatient clinics.

7) Architecture & Planning

The Canadian government is planning on launching a new program that gives foreign architects and planners who come to Canada work experience opportunities. They also offer permanent residency upon completion of their design project. To apply for these positions, applicants must have an architecture or planning degree from an accredited university and at least three years of experience. The positions involve designing and overseeing construction projects, both public and private. Candidates are asked to submit a portfolio of their best work with their applications; Canada is looking for talent that can bring fresh ideas to its architecture industry.

8) Military

The Canadian Forces is your best bet for a stable job that will give you lots of time off. The base salary ranges from around $60,000 to over $100,000 depending on your position. And while it’s true that not everyone has a taste for military life, you don’t have to actually join—you can apply online and if you’re selected, it’s possible to serve without going through boot camp or getting sworn in. You get paid as an employee and receive regular benefits such as overtime pay, vacation time, and sick leave (unlike most independent contractor jobs). If you’re accepted but decide not to take up the offer after taking part in activities like aptitude tests or physical fitness training sessions, there are no repercussions.
